Imagine the scene…You’re a driver that’s covered over 1000km in 18 hours without a break, the police stop you and want to see your tachograph charts.  What do you do?

Let’s be honest, no repuatable driver would get themself into such a situation so the answer’s bound to not be something sensible.  And it’s not.

Click below to find out what did happen…

The 34 year pld driver who was from one of the Balkan countries, was driving an Italian-registered truck when stopped on the motorway in Tessin,  southern Switzerland.

When the police checked the vehicle’s tachograph and discovered that, according to the unit, the driver had driven the aforementioned 1,00km+ in 18 hours without stopping, the driver locked himself in his cab and began eating the tachograph discs in a bid to destroy the evidence.

According to local reports, he subsequently complained of stomach pains and an ambulance was called.

Fortunately for him, his unusual meal appears not to have affected his health.  Unfortunately for him, it didn’t stop him being convicted.

Tachoblog’s thanks to The A2Z Freight Directory for the tip off.
