Tachoblog’s View From The Cab – 3.2.12
Right then time to look through the Tachoblog Tribe’s windscreens in this week’s View From The Cab. Join us and see what they’ve seen this week.
Before we start Tachoblog would like to thank everyone that’s contributed to View From The Cab this week. Without you this would be a blank post!
Darkstaff has some good news, ‘Beyond this gate, my new job waits. This is my view on my first morning at my new job, pulling tankers out of the terminal in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. I’m now a local driver! Home every night’…
…And here’s a ‘photo essay on what my new job entails’…
Now click below for more from Darkstaff and the rest of this week’s View From The Cab…
…’The view from the top of one of the tanker trailers I work with now. Quite the different beast from the dry van/reefer experience I’ve had up to now’…
…’It’s a gray, yet pleasant day along the Susquehanna river. Driving south on route US 11/15 in Liverpool, Pennsylvania’.
From Canada Al Goodhall sent us a ‘self portrait. A load check pull off just north of Wawa, Ontario’.
For his first View From The Cab iDriverChrisMc sent this ‘rainy Arkansas sunset’…
…Here he is ‘crossing the Mississippi river bridge in Memphis, Arkansas’…
…This is the ‘same picture but cropped and edited in camera+ app’…
…Finally he sent this from the ‘Flyin j in Tucumcari, New Mexico’.
Truckers Voice saw some westher too. Here she is ‘itting, waiting for hail to pass’…
…’In Texas on 1/25′.
One person that won’t have driven in snow – and probably not hail either – is Vic H. After all it’s not winter in New Zealand. Vic was ‘was heading south on State Highway 1 the other morning and approaching the Atiamuri Bridge across the Waikato River there was a bit of early morning mist as is often the case here. In fact it is a bit of a standing joke if you are driving in this area in the early morning. Another driver or the despatcher will phone and the conversation will go like this:
“Where are you?”
“No idea, I can’t see a thing.”
“OK, you must be in Atiamuri then.”…
…’Across the bridge and heading up into the rising sun, still unable to see much’…
…Finally from Vic and the last View in View From The Cab ‘tThen the mist clears but a few kilometres further on there is the steam from the Wairakei geothermal power station to contend with; not at all bad this morning but it can be in some weather conditions’.
If you’d like to become part of the Tachoblog Tribe and join in with View From The Cab (and you drive a truck) then please do.
