It might be Friday 13th but you’re not unlucky as we still have View From The Cab – our weekly look through the Tachoblog Tribe’s windscreens.

We begin this week’s collection by catching up with Amishtrucker.  His first View From The Cab is from near Shiner, Texas, ‘With the recent increase in oil drilling, a lot of pipeline is being laid all across southern Texas. This is a line being put in a few miles from my house’…

…’Green grass is growing again in the Bastrop fire area. This scene is along US71 near Bastrop. You can see blackened and burned trees along the side of the highway, but many of the burned homesites are being leaned up and grass is growing back. Looks a lot better than it did right after the fire’.

Now click below for more from Amishtrucker and the rest of this week’s View From The Cab…

…’I liked the cloud formation in this photo taken near Tynan, Texas along Texas 359. This is large cotton and corn and bean country not so very far from the gulf coast of the area of Texas known as  the Coastal Bend area’…

…’Driving through the large wind farm area along US181 near Taft, Texas; again in the Coastal Bend area of Texas and just outside of Corpus Christi’…

…’Coming off of the Harbor Bridge and onto the Neuces Bay Causeway separating Neuces Bay from Corpus Christi Bay and looking at Portland, Texas on the far shoreline there. Corpus Christi is behind you in this view. To the very right of the photo is the former Naval Station Ingleside which the US government has closed and has just recently been sold to commercial interests who are turning it into an oil and gas port.

‘I don’t get around like our good buddy Darkstaff but I do have a few views from around South Texas. I really enjoy the ’round the country’ view Darkstaff did recently and the views from around the world!   Let’s keep this thing going!

‘You all have a wonderful day and I hope Tachoblog and all of you drivers out there have a wonderful 2012!’

View From The Cab Logo25 427x62Finally for this week we travel to New Zealand and just look at what Vic H’s driving now!

Volvo1 427x320

…’Yes, it’s the truck on the right of the photo, it’s got I-shift as well! What on earth is going on, after all Vic’s comments on European trucks and auto boxes’…

Volvo2 427x320

…’Well, another driver was driving “my” Inter between Christmas and New Year and was involved in a head-on with a car; neither driver was seriously hurt but the car was demolished and the Inter had a bit of damage but will be back on the road soon. I must emphasise that it was completely the car driver’s fault, he slid sideways onto the wrong side of the road on a corner with a narrow bridge, straight into the path of the truck which was travelling 20km/h below the recommended speed limit for that corner. Still pissed me off a bit though, I’ve driven it for 940,000km without any real damage and another driver gets into it for a couple of days and crashes it. As I said though, not his fault in any way, just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time’…

…’So, for a couple of weeks, the Inter is being replaced with this rental Volvo FM500. Interesting!’
