Leg Lifting Super Sisu Timber Truck
In the UK at least we’re used to the sight of a tractor unit with one axle lifted, but what about this nifty little trick that the Sisu C600 Truck can perform…
Two axles up at once. Not bad, not bad at all. Now before you ask why does this post have Timber in the title when the picture above is clearly not a logging truck, the reason is simple; Sisu are well known for their ready to run timber trucks but offer the lifting axles throughout their range as you’ll see if you click below and keep reading…
Now that’s a timber truck, it says so on the front!
According to Sisu, the C600 ‘has a unique bogie axle with drive axle disconnect and lifting mechanism. The liftable rearmost axle of the bogie drive combined with the short turning radius make the truck agile even on a difficult terrain and in tight bends.’
‘The bogie lift system can also be utilised with full load, in which case weight and traction are shifted to the first bogie axle. Without load, starting the truck will cause no problems even in difficult circumstances by lifting the support axles and shifting thus the weight to the drive axles. During road transports, the bogie lift and support axle lift systems will reduce both tire wear and fuel consumption.’
Tachoblog says that not only is the Sisu a good looking truck, it’s clearly also a clever one!
Coincidentally, over on the excellent Biglorryblog today, you can see more shots of Sisus.
