Have you heard of the European Root Certification Authority (ERCA)?

Assuming you haven’t, then Tachoblog can tell you that they’re responsible for overseeing the cryptographic key management infrastructure of the digital tachograph. Or, to put it more simply, ERCA makes sure that your ‘private’ tachograph data can only be accessed by those who should be looking at it.

Whilst their function is undoubtedly important, they must be fairly desperate for news to publish, as they’ve recently announced that they’ve just celebrated the 50th ERCA Certification Session.

Tachoblog has also learnt that in these 50 sessions, thirty countries have attended at least one in order to have their national public keys certified by ERCA.
