What is it? It’s the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck and since February 27, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) have been taking orders for the environmentally friendly truck in Hong Kong through Universal Cars Limited (UCL), the Mitsubishi Fuso distributor in the Chinese special administrative region.

Looking strangely elephant-like, this is a Mercedes-Benz Unimog (Tachoblog’s favourite off-roader) U500 with a high technology Mulag washing unit cleaning hundreds of years’ grime from the walls of London’s Rotherhithe and Blackwall tunnels.

It’s a busy day for Mercedes on Tachoblog today, first we brought you the Finnish Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6×6 and now news that the first Mercedes-Benz Econic with NGT (Natural Gas Technology) for food distribution operations has been handed over to the ALDI SÜD group of companies in Mönchengladbach. So other than being a nice picture, what’s it all about? Well, Mercedes-Benz has achieved a first in the far North of Europe by supplying the world’s first new cab-behind-engine truck designed for civil use (the Zetros) to energy supplier Eltel in Finland.

Vienna Technical University and the Graz Energy Agency have teamed up with Mercedes-Benz Austria, Magna Steyr, and the shipping company Frikus to find out how much a natural gas-driven Economic NGT reduces noise and emissions of CO2 and pollutants compared to a conventional diesel-powered truck.

Tachoblog likes beer, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and travel. So hearing that another 50 Inca-yellow Mercedes-Benz Actros 2031 S semitrailer trucks have been handed over to the owners of the Nigerian beverage logistics company Nnabugwu Transport Ltd. in the Mercedes-Benz truck plant in Wörth meant a post had to happen.
